Dear Friends

At Dover Foodbank’s warehouse we are in the process of a major stock re-organisation – which has meant that we have been able to get back to taking a stock count, something we had not been able to do for the last couple of months. Our regular stock count is a useful way of helping us keep tabs on exactly what stock we are holding, and when we compare that with what we have distributed over the latest 12-month period we can easily see which stock items to include on our “wanted list”; the list below is based on the result of that comparison. Of course, we are always more than happy to accept any and all in-date, non-perishable foods, and we do also hold stocks of essential toiletries as well.

As a foodbank, like many others in the country, our distribution centres remain closed and all the food and other essentials we supply is delivered direct to people’s homes – a big thank you to our delivery teams for their help with this. We do keep this situation under frequent review and hope that the Covid19 situation will improve very soon, but sometimes what we hear on the news is not very encouraging as far as that is concerned and we are trying to be as prepared as possible for whatever happens over the next few months.

We continue to be fairly busy – that may be an understatement when we realise that already in 2020 we have provided more support to local people than in any previous year (and this year’s figures only cover January to September). There is no way we would have been able to provide that help without the support of so many generous people in our local community – Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement – it helps to make such a positive difference to other people’s lives. So we would encourage you to continue to support us in whatever way you can, although we do realise that in these challenging times that will not always be possible for some.

A special mention here, too, to those churches and schools which have held / are going to hold harvest celebrations with donations coming to the foodbank – thank you so much. If you are organising such an event and haven’t yet booked us to collect, please don’t hesitate to contact us – by ‘phone or e—mail or via our website.

Thank you to all, once again, for your continued support and, as always, do please feel free to circulate / forward / share / distribute the contents of this e-mail. And don’t forget – if you have any questions you want answered, please send me an e-mail about it and I will try to answer in the next week or so.

With kindest regards and every best wish – keep safe and keep well.
