Dear Friends

Is it just me, or is time really flying past us this year? The last month has certainly flown by and I am pleased to be able to share with you that a new Project Manager has been appointed, as has also a new Warehouse Co-ordinator. Both, Laura as Project Manager, and Kathryn as Warehouse Co-ordinator, are due to take over as from 1st September, although they have already spent some time volunteering with us and getting to know some of what goes on to make the work of the foodbank happen. All this means that sometime during the next few weeks Janet and I will retire from foodbank life and leave the foodbank and its volunteers and its work in their capable hands. I am sure you will want to support them and wish them all the very best in their work as the foodbank moves forward into the next chapter in its life.

As this is probably the last newsletter from us we want to say a truly heart-felt Thank you for all your encouragement and support of this work over many years, support which has enabled the foodbank, in turn, to support approximately 21,200 local people to date (three day’s worth of food and other essentials sufficient for approximately 21,200 people). And, of course, the foodbank will continue to be privileged to carry on providing support as needed.

So, as always, the work of the foodbank continues thanks to so many people – those who donate, those who organise collections, those who deliver to the warehouse and those who make deliveries from the warehouse, the warehouse team and many other volunteers as well, those who we have been asked to support and the many folk who are authorised to refer people to us for that support. That sounds an awful lot of people, and it really is – thank you for the part you play and thank you for the privilege of letting us work with you.

As the foodbank moves forward I am sure there will be an increased need for volunteers, so, if you feel you could help then do please let us know – Laura can be contacted on [email protected], and the foodbank continues to be contactable on [email protected] and also 07870 361180; the foodbank team would love to hear from you.

As always, do please feel free to share this this news with others as you see fit. And for those of you receive this newsletter direct from us by e-mail please be assured that, unless you tell us otherwise, any future newsletters will come direct to you as well. Thank you once again for your part in this privileged work of supporting others within our local community, and in making a positive difference to the lives of many people.

With kindest regards and every best wish – keep safe and keep well.
